Change a Song

3 votes

This challenge is something a little bit different, but I think we’ll all have some fun with it! =)

For this challenge:

  1. Choose any song.
  2. Choose only one verse from the song. (the chorus of the song counts as a verse here)
  3. Change the lyrics for that verse into something new!

I’d prefer if the change was funny or ironic but it isn’t a requirement.

Requirements:

I need you to include the name of the song, the artist, and the number of the verse (verse one is before the chorus, verse two is after the first chorus, verse three is after the second chorus) in your response. If you are changing the chorus (the repeated part of the song) then tell me. This way I can look up the song and attempt to sing your lyrics with the right verse!

Ideally, I should be able to sing along to the original song with your changed lyrics. So make your lyrics follow the tune of the song.

No limits. The only thing I ask is that you only change one verse (feel free to change it all, but only post one verse of your changes as a response). This way everything is short and easy to judge.

OPTIONAL: Include the original lyrics as well, so other people can compare the changes too.

Judgment Day: I will judge this challenge in two weeks, on October 8. If no one or only one person has responded by that day, I will lengthen the deadline.

Wow. Very good challenge, WON. I like it. Unique to others, but its FAB!
I'm just going to go the bathroom! And then I'm going to find a song-which will be quite hard because I have lots to choose from! And then I'll do it.
I am looking forward to entering it.
I promise I will definitely going to enter this one.
I have not entered a challenge for ages!!
I will hopefully either send it later on today or tomorrow.
xx
Oh my gosh. I forgot alllll about it! so sorry! i got busy in having lunch and stuff. im gonna look for a song now
LOL
I thought it was a pretty fun idea too. =D
I look forward to seeing your response. =)
Sounds like fun! I do this all the time...it's almost involuntary ;-) ...annoys the folks at work sometimes...

When I was in Greece a few years ago we had a bit of fun trying to find songs we could fit to all the names of the places we visited. Try singing "Mykonos" to the refrain from "Duke of Earl", or "Santorini" to "The Hallelujah Chorus"...  :-D
lol, well enter one of your creations Kismet! ;)

There's only one week left folks! Get those changes in. =D
Er... WON? Wasn't today the judgement dayy??? :S Maybe you forgot? Or you got busy??? ... LOL! :P
Anyways, I don't know if I can come on tomorrow... Probably yes, in the morning or afternoon cos my family is coming over for my birthday dinner. I know my birthday is actually on Monday but my family is coming over tomorrow for dinner... Probably can . I hope you come on tomorrow!
I'm here! Fear not! I have decided on 7dutch7 as the winner for this challenge.

Everyone did a magnificent job and I was torn between a couple of them, so I decided that as 7dutch7's response had more contributor votes that he would win. Congrats, 7dutch7!

Hi guys. I've not entered a challenge for a very long time now.
So, finally this is it!
I actually did make this up on last Sunday, but thought it wasn't any good, and then forgot all about entering.
But now I think maybe I should enter this.
It might not even make sense. But it was very hard.

The real song is called: Price Tag
The singer is: Jessie J

My version is called: Dance, dance, dance

The lyrics I changed was verse 1. It could also be verse 2, as the tune is the same.

Here it goes:

Seems like everybody wants to dance
I wonder how they do iiiitt
When music comes first
And drama comes second

Just stop for a sec and let...
Meee in
Why nobody lettin’ meee in
Dancing sure brings happiness

Can we all slow down,
And let me in
And we’ll have a good,
Tiiime

Everybody dance to the left,
Everybody dance to the right
Can you feel that, yeah
We’re paying with dance tonight...

Sorry if you do not get the tune, but the ones that have repeated letters, for example "Meee," I did 3 "e's", it means it lasts for a few seconds. And obviously, you'll know the tune for Italic Bold, I did "they."
and in the second paragraph, you know where it says "let...?" well, you hold it for a few secs, according to the tune.
I did all my best to fit it to the tune. And when I sang it, it was perfectly in tune.
So please let me know if it didn't work if you tried it, so I'll explain more to you.
Nice job, CherryBabe. =) This is really good. It fit in the tune just fine once I got used to the words in your changes. I also like the original song so that's a plus too! haha
Thanks!
Me too, I first got addicted to it... no, well first I kinda hated it (the real version), but then I got sooooo addicted!

Okay, I know this is kind of cheating, but this is Verse 2 and the chorus just because the verse was a bit too short and I find the chorus a bit funnier when the verse is with it :) sorry!

Song: Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri   --> Block of Bricks by Froggie
Verse 2 + Chorus

And what if everything falls down?
If my hand slips I’ll lose the crown
But I have worked too hard
I won’t go back to playing cards

I’ve learned to keep calm and cool
Now I’ll make you look like a fool

I’m gonna win Jenga
Pull out the blocks and leave a
Teetering tower for you
Now what are you going to do?
I’m making my bold moves
Just so that I can prove
That I am the master
I’m gonna win Jenga.

hahahah! =) I love it! And you're right, the chorus is much better with the verse. I almost like the verse better, but it does make more sense with both of them together. It isn't too long, so I'll let the rule slide for this one. ;)
haha thanks!
This is very good, Froggie. And yeah, it does sound better with the chorus!

Hmmm...took a while to come up with one that was...well...appropriate for a mixed audience. I hadn't realized just how twisted some of my tunes were...  ;-)

How's this:

To the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"

Rattle, rattle, little car
I don't think that you'll go far.
On the highway in the rain,
Pulling to the left again.
Leaking oil and low on fuel,
Please don't make me late for school.
