Alliteration Challenge

1 vote

Here's an Alliteration Challenge!

Write a story (any type you like. It can be about absolutely anything! E.g. romance, comedy, mystery, dream, fantasy, reality, horror) or a poem (also any type will be accepted e.g. rhyming, free verse, acrostic, shape, etc) with at least 4 alliterations. The rest can be ‘any’ words you like.

You can even do a whole poem with alliteration! But if you are going to do that, I will only let 4 ‘any type’ of words in it and you can use words with 2 letters as many times as you like e.g. is, or, on, in, etc. You can also use the word 'and'.

Now, I’m going to copy WON regarding points. I hope you don’t mind that, WON! I just really liked that Idea.

So,

Scoring (how I’m choosing the best response):

·         10 points for every set of Alliteration (write at least 3 set of words of Alliteration to get 10 points).

·         Bonus 25 points for each set of Alliteration above 4

·         Bonus 28 points for 4 ‘any words.

·         Bonus 30 points for only 3 ‘any’ words.

·         Bonus 32 points for using a letter once

·         Bonus 35 points for only using 2 lettered ‘any words’ (e.g. is, or, on, in, etc, including ‘and’) and none or only u p to 2 other words

·         Bonus 40 points for using none of the other words except of words like is, or, on, in, etc.

·         Bonus 150 points for using all the letters in the alphabet!

Oh and, by ‘other words’ or ‘any type’ of words, I mean like, for example, you chose the letter ‘F’ for one of  your set of Alliteration, try to only use words beginning with ‘F’, not other words. You can only go up to 4 ‘other’ words but you can use the 2 lettered-words (e.g. is, or, on, in, etc) any times you like.
If you still do not understand me, what I am trying to say then you are welcome to comment below or PM (Personal Message me).

Above, I’ve only did ‘Plus’ points. Now it’s time for ‘Minus’ points:

  • -5 points for using over 4 ‘any type’ of words
  • -10 points for using over 7 ‘any type’ of words
  • -5 points for only using 2 sets of alliteration
  • -8 points for only using 1 set of alliteration
  • -10 points for using a letter more than 2 times

You are welcome to use any letters as you like. But you can only use one letter twice. But try not to. Try to use it only once.

Word Count for story: Minimum = 80 words Maximum = 270

Word Count for poetry: No Minimum. Maximum = 20 lines

Judgement Day: I will be judging on Friday, September 30th. This leaves you with 3 weeks. Shall there be no one or only one person who has responded by that day, I will lengthen the deadline.

Should you have any concerns, worries, thoughts or questions... Comment, or send me a personal message.

Good Luck and have fun!

One week left guys!
Or shall I say, 6 days!
If anyone else wants to enter, feel free to.
I have not counted the points yet.
I'll do that near the judgement day.
2 days left, guys!!
Remember! Challenge ends on Friday.
1 DAY LEFT GUYS!!! ENDS TOMORROW!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think anyone else is entering...
I'll start counting points now. The "boring and confusing" part!! LOLL! :P
OMG! Judging day!!
Still not counted the points. I will do that after my dinner.
PROMISE! LOL!!!
I have finally decided the winner, which I think was already obvious!
And it is....................    midnightpoet !!
Well done, midnightpoet. You did exceptionally well. I am not going to reveal the points. But well done. You did brilliant alliterations, and only used two 'other' words, and that to, only the 'two lettered' words. WELL DONE!!! And, WON and Kismet, you two did very well too. All three of you did great. All three of you forgot one thing! The minimum was 80 words!! But I will let y'all go!

Okay

Anytime anyone annoys me, I’m amazed to not be angry. I am aware of my own annoyances.
And anyways, even I annoy myself when I am alone. I annoy all my acquaintances too.
Confidence is a challenge; a complicated cacophony of constant crying in my ear.
Manhood mocks me.
But I am trying to be okay.

Haha very good, WON! I just need to count the points. Not that bothered yet! LOL. I am also watching a fave tv show that's why. So I'll do points. But it's very good!
Thanks for entering! x
Well done! xx
Thanks Lolly. I may edit it as the competition goes on; I'm not sure I am happy with how it is right now, but I'll wait and see what my points are first - haha. This was a tough challenge, but it was very fun to write it and to try and find the right words. It definitely gets you thinking differently, lol. =)
LOL.
But when I've counted the points, I cannot tell you guys them. Because then it will be very clear on who's in the lead.
:) I think it's perfect, but it's up to you. You can edit parts if you like but in my opinion it's perfect just the way it is. :)
BTW, I just realised! WON, you and Kismet didn't do at least 80 words!!
I said minimum is 80!
As I didn't mention I'll take away points, and they are very good, I will not count that. But take care of that next time.

haha, good one Kismet!
Excellent one! You tried your very best not to use too much 'other' words and you did an alliteration on every line! And what fantastic alliterations, Kismet! You have a chance of winning, you know. Well done!!!
You also used different letters in all alliterations.

Stand straight, sweetheart.
Think things through.

Mistakes made me mad,
but breathing brings better.
Count, calm, consider.

Don’t doubt devotion, dear.
Overreaction occurs occasionally…
okay, often.

Please practice patience.

I’m irresponsible…impulsive.

Love lingers, lasting –
even if emotions evolve.

Hate harbors hungry hearts –
yearning yet young:
wanting what’s wrong.

This is beautiful! "...okay, often..." gave me an actual "Laugh out Loud" moment! :-) I love it...although I'm afraid I startled one of my cats out of a sound sleep...she may not talk to me for a while...  ;-)
I totally agree with Kismet! I also laughed at that line. =D
Very nice, and a lot of different choices for letters. I also like how it flows really well.
Well done, midnightpoet! I think you are actually in the lead! Every line of yours have alliteration and I love that poem. And very good. You only used two 'other' words, but obviously it doesn't count as 'other' words as I said. Because both are 'two lettered' words. So very good! You also used different letters. So well done!
