Surf the vowel wave: The Big Kahuna.

1 vote

Ride the vowel wave!  Write a story that uses the vowels in order up, then down.

A E I O U, then U O I E A.

For example: Alex isn’t out; upon my field, grass.

That’s one wave, up, and back.

Now, you could ride bigger and bigger waves; if you were a pro, the next wave would be:

AA EE II OO UU, then UU OO II EE AA

And the wave after that would be:

AAA EEE III OOO UUU, then UUU OOO III EEE AAA.

Every time you wipe out, that is, use a vowel out of order, minus 10.  The first wave is worth 50.  The next higher wave is worth 75.  And so on.  50 extra points for going up in higher and higher waves, and coming down in order also.  100 extra points for an actually coherent story, which means it would make more sense than the wimpy example sentence above!

Hang ten!

Until May 20.

This looks like a very complicated and an excessively time consuming one maybe?  I wil watch this with interest!
Yes, you're probably right.  I have no idea if it's possible, but then, I don't surf either, except from the couch.  I'll wait awhile and offer a modification if nothing comes of it.
I think this is entirely possible, but certainly challenging...I'm going to give it a shot and I'll let you know if it turns out to be impossible. It's a wonderful idea for the alphabet challenge.
Saxon:  You thought my "vowel" challenge was difficult!  I like this one and I'm going to give it a go.
Sorry for editing the challenge. It should be clearer but you don't need to put a # before the tag - it gets added automatically. All the #alphabet challenges can be seen here http://www.thinkwrites.com/tag/alphabet
Sad this mini series has died. If Holly does not re appear soon, can I restart this with a new vowel challenge? and view TW?

Agent Igor, up upon little Aardvark Creek, nit wit or not, put up Pucks Pub on only thin pines. They (all tall,  all angry) agreed the pink pint in one old pot. “Up Puck; up Pub, up, up. Oh pot, oh pink pint in every heavy hand.” And an end is found upon little acts!

Like it or not, here it is, a triple ending in a wavelet!
The top of the tripple needs 6 "u"s in a row!
Holy moly!  And thee said it couldn’t be done.  Methinks the Saxon did protest too much.  Perhaps a ringer, feigning fright?
This is quite a ride! For the waves, 50+75+100+75+50=350.   50 more for going up and down in order. Shall we say +75 for near coherence?  (It might’ve been all those pints in the pub)…and nary a wipe out!  Total=475! Well done!

All ends in our unknowing era, all are endings in one of us. Us, cut up to rot inside. Death, war and carnage. Every night light lit for good luck. Run, just run; such fun. Stop for nothing. It's in the end we all pray and say that at last we've been thinking right.
I'll go on, worn 'n' proud, cut but unhurt, burnt but untorn. Only God, only Him, in this dire extreme can award a day's salvage where fighting is only shown.
Tough guys push, bulky guys pull. Go on, join in, it's every dream that lads had. Rarely we drink in good pubs, but fun must go on. In time we shall say that we hit our upcoming death.

What I've noticed so far is that it's much easier to do the bigger waves than the smaller ones. Even the loads of u's didn't give me as much trouble as the little waves. What I dislike most about this piece is that it somehow wants to rhyme and flow and then it gets rudely interrupted. I wonder if you'll feel the same. I tried my best, but I couldn't make it work just right. Maybe it's what waves are realy like, they start building up and then they crash and disappear. Maybe if I feel like it, I'll come back to it; right now I need a break.
